The ephedrine-type alkaloids are extracted from plasma with acetonitrile, then diluted with water. Urine is diluted with acetonitrile–water (3 + 97). The amount of ephedrine-type alkaloids present in the urine and plasma is determined by liquid chromatography using tandem mass selective detection (LC-MS/MS)
