SimPlate Total Plate Count–Color Indicator (TPC–CI) method is used for detection and quantification of total aerobic populations. The TPC–CI medium and food mixture is dispensed into a SimPlate device and incubated for 24–28 h. The medium changes color in the presence of aerobic microorganisms. The total aerobic microorganisms count is determined by counting the wells with changed color and correlating the number of positive wells with the number of total aerobic microorganisms found in Table 2002.07D.
