2017

665.0288 AOCS 7th ed. 2017-2019 rev. Ref. (Loose-Leaves FL2)

This method describes a procedure for quantitative determination of phospholipids by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) using a diol column and evaporative light scattering detection (ELSD). The main phospholipid components in lecithin are N-Acyl-phosphatidylethanolamine (N-Acyl-PE), phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidyl-ethanolamine (PE), phosphatidylinositol (PI), phosphatidic acid (PA), and lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC). This method determines the individual main phospholipids in gram per 100 grams of product. This method can be used for oil-containing and oil-free lecithins and lecithin fractions; not applicable to lyso-PE.
