DEFINITION This method quantitatively determines the Dowtherm J™, Dowtherm A™, and Syltherm™ content in vegetable oils, using capillary gas chromatography (GC) with a flame ionization detector (FID). Oil test samples are dissolved in heptane. The diluted test samples are subsequently injected onto a capillary column and detected with flame ionization. SCOPE This procedure is applicable to vegetable oils.
