DEFINITION This method describes a procedure for the determination of Dowtherm A™ in edible oils and oleochemicals by HPLC. The procedure does not require a pre-treatment step. SCOPE Applicable to edible oils and oleochemicals which have no interfering components that fluoresce in the same region as Dowtherm A™. The method is also applicable to other thermal heating fluids based on mixture of biphenyl and diphenyl oxide, e.g., Therminol VP-1™ (see References, 1). The method may be used either semi-quantitatively or quantitatively.
