DEFINITION A direct aspiration, flame atomic absorption method has been developed for the determination of dimethylpolysiloxanes (DMPS) in fats and oils. The detection limit of the method is approximately 1 µg/g with a standard deviation of 0.3 for test samples containing 1–10 µg/g DMPS. SCOPE Applicable to the analysis of both hydrogenated and non-hydrogenated fats and oils.
