The standard procedure rapidly (< 5 min) determines the total SFA, MUFA, PUFA, and trans FA content for triacylglycerol-based vegetable oils and fats using pre-calibrated Fourier transform near infrared (FT-NIR) spectrometers with neat sampling in disposable glass vials, or with a fiber optic probe (2 mm pathlength) in the tranflection mode.1 SCOPE This method is applicable to triglyceride vegetable oils and fats that were included in the calibration.
