Insoluble solids in raw sugar are determined by filtering a sugar solution through a filter paper and weighing the retained portion after drying. The filter paper used should have typical particle retention in liquid efficiency of 10 µm. The filter paper and residue are dried at 105 °C and weighed on a balance to 0.1 mg.
