The term free gossypol defines gossypol and gossypol derivatives in cottonseed products that are soluble in aqueous acetone under the conditions of the method. Application to cottonseed, cottonseed meats, cottonseed slab and sized cake, and cottonseed meals of normal commercial production. Application to chemically treated meals should be verified before use.
