This method determines, as crude fiber, the loss on incineration of the oven-dried residue remaining after digestion of the sample with dilute sulfuric acid and dilute sodium hydroxide, as specified in the conditions outlined in the procedure. Applicable to grains, meals, flours, feeds, and all fiber-bearing material from which the oil or fat can be extracted leaving a workable residue. This is a joint AOCS-Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC) method (References, 1). Replaces Ba 6-49 and Ba 6-61.
