This method determines the oil content of rapeseed by continuous-wave, low-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The NMR instrument determines the response of liquid compounds containing hydrogen in seeds that have been previously dried. The oil content is calculated on an as-is basis from the NMR signal by reference to a calibration of NMR response versus oil content determined by solvent extraction. Applicable to rapeseed, soybean, sunflower seed, and peanut.
