2017

665.0288 AOCS 7th ed. 2017-2019 rev. Ref.

This method, adopted from ISO 10519 (References, 1), defines the chlorophyll content as the total of the substances contributing to the absorption band near 665 nm as determined under the operating conditions specified in this method, measured as chlorophyll a and expressed in milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) of the product as received. The chlorophyll content of the rapeseed/canola (colza) is determined by extraction of a test portion in a suitable apparatus with a solution of ethanol and isooctane, or 2-propanol, methanol and isooctane, followed by the spectrometric deter-mination of the chlorophyll contained in the extraction solution. This method specifies a spectrometric method for the determination of the chlorophyll content of rapeseed (colza) used as an industrial raw material.
