The VIDAS LIS test is an automated enzyme-linked fluorescent immunoassay for the detection of Listeria in foods. Test portions are enriched to increase the number of organisms to the detectable limit of the assay. Once the automated assay is complete, a positive or negative result is generated. A positive result is presumptive for Listeria and must be confirmed by cultural procedures such as those outlined in the FDA Bacteriological Analytical Manual or the USDA Microbiology Laboratory Guidebook (MLG 8.03).
